I am experiencing low frame rates (FPS)

Frame rate, measured in frames per second (FPS), is the frequency at which consecutive images called frames appear on a display.

Your frame rate might be really great in some parts of the game, but once you enter a specific area of the game where the game begin to have more complex scenes, then it calls for more power from your PC and you may experience the game beginning to look more like a choppy slide slow, rather than a fluidly running video.

It's important to understand that low FPS is a system issue and is not affected by network issues or to be compared with "lagging". This is why it is good to check which indicator appears on your screen:

How do I solve this?

1. Close Background Processes

Ensure you don't have any unnecessary applications running in the background.

If you have an open browser like Chrome with multiple tabs, or other applications consuming large amounts of memory or CPU power you can close those down.
You can easily see which processes are running in your background by accessing Task Manager.

      1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys together
      2. In the Process tab, click on Memory to sort the processes starting with the highest number.
      3. Select one unnecessary process at a time and click the End Process option to close it down.

Note: Only close the processes you are familiar with, like Chrome, Spotify, Dropbox and other applications you know.

2. Update Drivers

Update your drivers. New graphics drivers for both discrete GPUs and integrated GPUs are released regularly to optimize for recent games. Use the manufacturer’s utility to download these drivers.

3. Changing from DirectX12 to DirectX11

When you open the game, select the mode "Play in DX11 Compatibility Mode" instead of "Play Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodhunt"

4. Change the Display options

What can also do is to change the graphics to a lower quality, as well as the resolution of the game. You can also try to play in both windowed and full screen mode to see if the low frame rates you have been experiencing are caused by the different view modes.

Disabling V-Sync and switching the AMD FSR between Ultra and Balance could also help you get better framerates.

5. Verify game integrity

Verifying the in-game files can replace some missing files and thus, stabilize the FPS. You can find more about how to do it step by step by clicking on the link here.

I have tried everything above! What now?
